Of all the well known cities of the Old South, none are more iconic of that era than Atlanta. Even though Atlanta was burned to the ground during the Civil War, it has risen from the ashes like a Phoenix with renewed vigor.

On the other side of the coin, Atlanta rarely exceeds 100 degrees Fahrenheit, topping that mark just a few days each year. For the most part summer temperatures fall into the very comfortable range between 71 and 89 degrees in Atlanta.

The Salton Sea is the longest of the day trips at just over three hours away from Encinitas. It is a sight worth visiting in any trip to Southern California. The Salton Sea is part of an ancient cycle of flooding and drought in the area’s basin. The current Salton Sea was formed in 1905 when the last cycle of flooding filled the basin. Because the basin was part of the ocean at one point in time, the salt that remains in the basin while much of the water has evaporated away results in the Salton Sea being saltier than the nearby Pacific Ocean. The sea offers up a diverse habitat for more than 400 species of birds and other wildlife that live in the area. The Salton Sea is changing rapidly, however, as it completes its flood cycle. Water levels are dropping, salinity is rising and many of the fish are beginning to die off as the environment becomes more inhospitable. This marvel of the twentieth century is worth visiting to marvel at its uniqueness and its fleeting beauty.

Fortunately, relocation packages are often one of the most negotiable benefits that a company offers to new employees. Of course, the amount you can ask for depends greatly upon your specific value to the company.

If you own a home and plan to buy a new one, this is one of the biggest sources of expense you will face during your move. Sometimes, a company will offer a guarantee to buy your house at a certain price if it doesn’t sell within a specified period. In today’s real estate market, this is becoming much rarer as this can be a very real and costly option as home values are on the decline and sales are slow. Instead, you may be better off asking for temporary living expenses in your new location in the event that your house doesn’t sell. Estimate how long you think it will take to sell your house for its fair market value, and then add a safety buffer. Larger companies are more likely to take on the effort of locating and providing corporate housing than smaller companies.

Smaller companies may be more inclined to offer cash only. In either case, come to the discussion prepared with a list of relocation expenses. Have estimates for movers, housing, transportation, meals, and everything else you can think of including the real estate commissions that you’ll have to pay.
